Closing a loophole

May 9, 2008

Akinola gets serious.and decrees a ban on polygamy among Nigerian Anglicans.

He warned that any attempt to trivialise the Bible’s teaching on monogamy as the ultimate standard for the Christian family “will make a mockery of whatever else we stand for.

Saints Abraham and Jacob, pray for us
Saints Sarah, Hagar, Rachel and Leah, pray for us
Saints David and Solomon, pray for us

And if nuns really are the Brides of Christ, doesn’t that make Jesus the biggest polygamist of all time?

And from Lebanon

May 9, 2008

From NOW! Lebanon, a report on the twistings and turning that immediately preceded this new round of fighting.

summary quote:

The coming days and weeks will likely determine whether we have truly entered a new era, or rather are simply in the middle of a fleeting moment of fortitude. However, it is long past time that both sides drop the charade that the present crisis is about the president, cabinet, electoral law, or the standard of minimum wages. The Lebanese may long have mastered the art of leaving things for tomorrow, but no progress can really be achieved until leaders and laypeople alike start focusing on the actual problem: Hezbollah’s rapidly emerging state within a state.
