No mass in Minn.

By kishnevi

It seems that the family of an autistic boy in Minnesota is distinctly unwelcome in church.

I have an idea that there’s a bit of obstinancy on both sides here. Perhaps it was a question of limited resources, but I can’t believe that no one, in the family or out, could be found to sit with him while the rest of the family attended Mass; nor can I believe that the parish priest could not find a way to visiting them weekly with the Eucharist at home as part of his regular schedules.

That said, family and church should have worked together to help Adam Race adjust to the sensory overloads that inevitably come in a public place, and to help him experience what the Eucharist is for the rest of the family.

Amen! I didn’t study that one real carefully, but it reeked of misplaced priorities on both sides.
