In praise of poker playing presidents

By kishnevi

At least, that’s the burden of this article, and especially one poker playing president elect.
Two dissenting notes:
1)Not all of the presidents he singles out as poker players were good poker players. Grant was one of the best generals that ever was, but one of the worst presidents that ever was when he got to the White House; and Harding isn’t exactly the name that springs to mind when talking about great presidents.
2) Craps, which is said to be McCain’s favorite gambling game, can be played and won at, if you know what you are doing. It does not have to be a crapshoot, so to speak. (Just remember double odds, try to have at least one come bet going at any time, and avoid the side bets, if you don’t have time to read the books.)

And of course, the tales of legislators partaking of an activity that is illegal says something that I will leave to you to figure out…
